Installed in the beautiful renovated space of the former stables of the gendarmerie barracks, the museum's collections consist of works by artists from the 19th and 20th centuries relating to Charleroi, the Wallonia region and Belgium. The works reflect major trends in the history of national and international art, such as Neoclassicism, Romanticism, Orientalism, Realism, Impressionism, Abstraction, Surrealism, etc.

Parallel to the permanent collections, the Museum puts on temporary exhibitions on various themes.

Opening times

Tuesday to Friday: 9.00-17.00. Weekends and public holidays: 10.00-18.00. • Closed on Mondays, 1/05, 24/12 (afternoon), 25/12 and 26/12, 31/12 (afternoon), 1/01 and 2/01.

Permanent exhibition: free admission • Temporary exhibition: adults €7.50 - students (12-18 yrs) and seniors: €3.50 - children (<12 yrs) free of charge - First Sunday of the month: free admission

1.5 hrs

Price Groups of 10 to 25 people - Guided tours: €80 on weekdays and €105 on weekends and evenings. School visits, with workshop: €3 per child and €31 for a secondary school class.
