The BPS22 (acronym of Bâtiment Provincial Solvay, n°22 du boulevard Solvay) is the Art Museum of the Hainaut Province.
Since its creation, in 2000, firstly as a contemporary creative space and since 2015, as a Museum, the BPS22 has positioned itself as one of the pioneers of the cultural development of Charleroi.
The Museum favours art forms centred on current social news and the cultural phenomena characteristic of our times. Temporary, monographic or collective exhibitions are planned throughout the year.
The founding principle of BPS22’s activity is social advancement through accession to culture, which is considered to be a form of deepening of democracy . This is an essential vector for democracy which allows citizens to approach the world in which they live in a more critical way.
BPS22 is also reputed for its cultural mediation initiatives adapted to all audiences.

Tuesday to Sunday from 10.00 to 18.00 • Closed on Mondays, 24, 25, 31/12 and 1/01, and during exhibition installation.

Mit der Ausstellung „Puisque bafouillent aussi les astres“ ("Denn auch die Sterne stottern") blickt die belgische Fotografin und Videokünstlerin Chantal Maes auf 30 Jahre Schaffen zurück, mit:
- fotografischen Bildern verschiedener Art und Formate
- Video- und Tonaufnahmen
- gefilmten Performances im Zusammenhang mit der Erfahrung des Stotterns
- speziell für die Ausstellung produzierten Arbeiten
Im Werk von Chantal Maes scheint die künstlerische Tätigkeit untrennbar mit der Konstruktion des Selbst verbunden zu sein.

In Charleroi präsentiert das Kunstmuseum der Provinz Hennegau (BPS22) "Porcelaine et Faits divers", die erste Museumsausstellung in Belgien des Duos Louis Bachelot und Marjolaine Caron.
Eine immersive Retrospektive in die Welt von Bachelot & Caron
"Porcelaine et faits divers" bietet einen retrospektiven und immersiven Rundgang, bei dem die Kunst mit den dunkelsten menschlichen Trieben in Dialog tritt. Das Künstlerduo Bachelot & Caron beschwört vergessene Mythen, ausschweifende Bankette, beunruhigende Bilder und hybride Formen herauf.
Zwischen Fotografie, Keramik und Performance fasziniert ihr Universum ebenso wie es verstört.
Im BPS22 bietet die Ausstellung eine sinnliche und mentale Reise, die sich ganz nah an dem bewegt, was unsere Zeit verschweigt: Begierde, Gewalt, Schönheit und Überschreitung.
