This WWI interpretation centre is a semi-buried structure located at the heart of Ploegsteert wood.
It features a 400 m² exhibition space and cutting-edge technology, inviting visitors on an interactive voyage into the life of civilians and soldiers in a war-torn region, together with an overview and close-up insight into British and German positions in Comines-Warneton.
In collaboration with the Australian Government, three themes relating to Australian soldiers in Ploegsteert and Warneton are explored: the Battle of Messines, the catacombs, and the winter of 1917-1918.
The centre features five interactive stations, including a film on the causes of the 14-18 conflict, an animated map of the fighting, a station dedicated to ANZAC soldiers, touch screens on six themes, and a virtual tour of First World War sites.
