Set in the heart of the "Maison du Parc Naturel des Plaines de l’Escaut" nature reserve, The Forest Halt is a genuine gateway to forest of Bon-Secours (2500 acres).
The "Explor’forêt" Interpretation Centre unveils the keys to the forest ecosystem (WapAventure notebooks available for 5-12 year-olds).
Discover the diversity and richness of the Parc naturel des Plaines de l’Escaut in the film "Travel Diary: In the Heart of the Parc naturel des Plaines de l’Escaut."
Each year, an immersive and playful exhibition takes place in our indoor spaces. Will you be able to take on the many challenges? A fun and unique experience for the whole family!
You can opt for a variety of ways to discover the forest: scrabble around the humps and bumps of "La Pic’orée" at the edge of the forest with all the family, take off your shoes at the Barefoot Path or plunge into dense foliage on the "Promenoir des Cimes", a 50-metre contemporary architectural structure.
You'll also enjoy free access to a host of amenities after your tour :
Gather your family and go on an adventure with Salix! Equipped with a bag and its small equipment, you will have everything in hand to solve different challenges in the forest. (3 km loop, the Salix! bag is for sale for 10 € at the "Maison du Parc Naturel des Plaines de l’Escaut" reception centre. Duration: 2 hours. Activities adapted for children 6 and up.)
An orientation course around Bon-Secours allows you to explore the area and its forests in a fun way. Alone or with a team, place coordinates on your map and set off, compass in hand, to find the 10 tags. The course is about 5 km long. Duration: 2 hours. For everyone from the age of eight (children must be accompanied).
"La Flânerie de la Lisière", is a 1-km family walk suitable for pushchairs and reduced-mobility visitors, the path is equipped with didactic modules.
Two 4-km family walks in the forest.
If you need any more info on the walks, want to discover the local produce, or find out more about the nature reserve's up-and-coming projects, our reception centre will be pleased to give you details on our 500 km of signposted footpaths, bridle paths and cycle paths, together with the natural and touristic sights of the reserve and the Wallonia Picardy area in general.
