General information

The Maison de la Métallurgie et de l'Industrie de Liège (MMIL) invites you to discover Liège's steelmaking and industrial heritage on the site of the old factory in the heart of the Longdoz district.

Take a tour of the old Walloon-style forge and discover how iron was made and processed in the 17th century, at the foot of the country's oldest blast furnace (1693).

Discover the techniques and people who made Liège the cradle of the iron and steel industry.

Plunge into the heart of industrialisation at the impressive Ambresin steam engine and admire the many scale models on display.

Numerous photographs, unusual objects (including Napoleon's travelling bathtub) and many other treasures will give you a different perspective on the history of our region.

On your own, with your family or in a group, MMIL's many collections will tell you their story, in the company of a guide (book by email at info@mmil.be, or by phone on +32 4 342 65 63) or guided by our visitor's booklet.

An activity booklet lets children discover the forge in a fun way, following the story of Samuel and Karl, the blacksmith.

Nearest Car park: Médiacité Shopping Center.
